Information Sessions Are Now Available
Are you part of an organization with questions about the nuts and bolts of Open Broadband’s internet service? Curious about what exactly will be installed at your house? If so, let us know and we’d be happy to come speak with your group and answer any questions. Whether it’s an HOA, church group, business organization, or other gathering, we can give a brief presentation followed by time for Q&As.
Email emily@openbb.net to plan an info session or to let us know about opportunities to table at upcoming events.
Network Build Update
Our team has been busy this month securing agreements for the primary hub towers, representativeing the network and negotiating with equipment vendors. In the coming months we’ll be on the ground in Orange County more and more, with our objective to have the first customer installation by April 2019. Be sure to keep a look out for our team around the county!
Interested in donating tower space?
We know that you’re eager to get high-speed internet as soon as possible and there are a few ways you can help us make that happen. Since our internet service is wireless, we rely on a network of towers to transmit signal to your home. While the majority of homes can be reached from water or telecom towers, some homes will be difficult to reach due to the regions’ hilly landscape and abundant tree coverage. In these harder to reach areas, we will need to work with private land owners to use existing vertical assets like grain silos, amateur radio towers or even build new towers.
Since we are committed to providing internet service at affordable rates, we are only able to offer free internet in exchange for placing equipment on private property that will help you and your neighbors get service. If you’re a property owner in northern Orange County interested in working with us, send us an email at emily@openbb.net to get the conversation started.
We are currently working with Orange County to make the permitting process for new towers as straightforward as possible. Next month we’ll provide more details on permitting costs, timeline and height requirements. Stay tuned!
