Customer Activations & Network Growth
In October we continued to install customers in Cedar Grove near the Ruritan and Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. We also completed installs further North along Wilkerson Rd. The picture below shows some of the recent installation locations. November should be a busy month as we continue activations and look to bring on more MicroPoP locations and Hub Homes! Our focus continues to be on installations in Efland, Cedar-Grove, and Hurdle Mills.
Schley
We signed an agreement to be able to locate antennas on a Crown Castle tower at 3321 Schley Rd. There is a lot of work to do in getting the drawings and permitting processed, but we are excited about making the decision and having a go-forward path in serving the Schley area. Several of you on the signup list have offered the use of barns and silos in this area. Once the tower site is online you can expect us to resume those conversations. We thank you for your patience in the meantime.
Poor or No Cellular Coverage at Home?
Open Broadband Can Help! – WiFi Texting & Calling!
We all know that one of THE BIGGEST drivers for broadband is Streaming Media. Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube TV are some of the most notable streaming services, and Disney Plus is launching soon! We are happy to help you with your binge watch cravings!
However, there is another area where Open Broadband can help! Your poor cellular coverage! As we travel around rural Orange county, we are continually surprised at how many cellular dead-zones we encounter. It is extremely frustrating to not be able to communicate – we feel your pain AND have a solution! No, we’re not influencing AT&T, Verizon, or other cellular providers to build more cellular towers in your area (although we wish they would!).
How is Open Broadband Helping you with Cellular phone service?
We are bringing you solid broadband speeds of 25Mbps and up! As result, you can now take advantage of WiFi Calling & Texting!
Dancing in Cedar Grove! Upon completion of a recent install in Cedar Grove, one of the first things our customer did was connect their iPhone to the WiFi router (included with Open Broadband service). After enabling WiFi calling on the phone, a test call was placed and someone answered. Of course we value customer privacy, so we won’t share the video, or post to YouTube, but DANCING IMMEDIATELY commenced – as this was the FIRST ever cell phone call placed from INSIDE the home! Truly a “dance worthy” moment!

You will be contacted once service is available
Once service is available at your address, we will contact you to schedule an in-home installation appointment. A team of installers will set up the system, attaching an antenna to the exterior of your house in addition to an interior gateway device.
If we have not contacted you that means service is not available yet. Please be patient and we will contact you when we can schedule your address. We will provide as much advance notice as possible.
If your neighbors have not joined the waitlist, encourage them to do so.
It’s a 3-year Project. Want to help speed things up?
We are interviewing local installers and are looking to hire entry-level installation technicians (see job description). Interested applicants should email a resume to info@openbb.net for consideration.
