Customer Activations
We are continuing to progress with customer activations in Cedar Grove. We have activated multiple homes on Jessie Lane and have also begun extending service to residents on Lees Chapel Rd. West of the Ruritan Club has been a challenging area for us due to the the density of the woods/trees behind the club. Fortunately we have found a path via the Eno River Coon Hunters Association to add a microPOP and extend service westward on Lees Chapel Rd, towards Oakley Rd. We are still reviewing other network enhancement options to reach further down Lees Chapel and also serve homes on Oakley Rd.
We were able to complete one activation on Birdsong Ln. However, the signal was not yet satisfactory to establish a hub home/microPOP. In the remainder of October, we will continue our efforts and network enhancements to serve more homes on Dawn Dr and Birdsong Ln.
Network Growth and microPOP sites
As mentioned above, we have added a microPOP at the Eno River Coon Hunters Association. It is located just to the west of the building in the tractor pull area. This is simply an extension of our Ruritan Club coverage and allows us to continue to “hop, skip, and jump” around barriers to reach more customers. We are always looking for creative solutions like this to reach as many homes with broadband as possible. Thank you Phillip Pennell and the Eno River Coon Hunters Association for helping us reach your friends and neighbors with broadband internet!
On Friday, October 11th, we completed adjustments at our tower located at the Cedar Grove Fire Department. This should give us an increased reach with our LTE equipment. Testing will begin this week to measure the gains from these adjustments. We are anticipating stronger signals allowing us to schedule more installs in the Cedar Grove and Hurdle Mills areas.
In mid to late October or early November, we anticpate bringing the Town of Hillsborough Water Tank online as a microPOP. This was originally planned for late September, but is now moving ahead and we are working hard to bring this online ASAP! Once it is fully implemented, tested, and accepted, we will be begin scheduling installations in that area as well.
You will be contacted once service is availableOnce service is available at your address, we will contact you to schedule an in-home installation appointment. A team of installers will set up the system, attaching an antenna to the exterior of your house in addition to an interior gateway device. If we have not contacted you that means service is not available yet. Please be patient and we will contact you when we can schedule your address. We will provide as much advance notice as possible. If your neighbors have not joined the waitlist, encourage them to do so. |
It’s a 3-year Project. Want to help speed things up?
We are interviewing local installers and are looking to hire entry-level installation technicians (see job description). Interested applicants should email a resume to info@openbb.net for consideration.
