We are pleased to report that our free public Wi-Fi Zone is now available in downtown Belmont NC!
Belmont City Manager Adrian Miller said, “Visitors to downtown can access mobile content without using their own data plans, so they can review menus or the latest specials that our restaurants and shops are offering.”
To log on, visitors to downtown can select the “Open Belmont” Wi-Fi option on their smartphone, tablet or computer. An internet browser window will appear on their screen prompting them to connect to the network.
“The free public Wi-Fi is easy to use and will direct users to a splash page where an advertisement for our local shops and restaurants will appear,” Miller said. “This is a good way for new visitors to learn about our locally owned shops and restaurants.”
The downtown Wi-Fi project is just one element of our launch of ultra high-speed internet in Belmont. Our first gigabit customer signed up, and the majority of customers are signing up for 100Mbps speed and above.
Open Broadband has been providing free public Wi-Fi in Stanly County NC on the Pfeiffer University sports fields, and we are under contract for a downtown Wi-Fi zone in Mount Olive, NC, and a sports complex in Goldsboro, NC. If you need a public Wi-Fi zone in your town, email us at info@openbb.net, or visit our exhibit table at the Main Street Conference in Clayton NC March 13-15, 2018.
Eric Wildstein of the Gaston Gazette wrote an article about the Belmont Wi-Fi launch, which you can read in its entirety here.
